13 years of failure leads to Government intervention

Wirral is one of 15 councils in England that have this week been warned that Government intervention is likely on where new homes should be built, following failure by the Council to produce a local plan for the last 13 years. 

Thornton Hough Green Belt plan sparks anger

A plan to build on the Green Belt around Thornton Hough, enlarging the village by almost a third, has sparked opposition from residents and local councillors.

Wirral jobless falls again

Official employment figures released today (13 September 2017) show that there are now a record number of people in work, the highest level since records began in 1971. The figures, released by the Office of National Statistics, also show that unemployment is at 4.3%, the lowest since 1975.

Labour's bin consultation is 'rubbish' say residents

Wirral Council has today published the results of a consultation on proposals to introduce a fourth wheelie bin in Borough, dedicated to food waste and, at the same time, reduce the frequency of collections of residual waste to three weekly.

New Ferry update

Earlier today, Conservative Councillors from across Wirral, as well as local volunteers, delivered letters to 3,300 homes in New Ferry and Port Sunlight, following the terrible explosion on 25 March.

Good news as unemployment hits 42 year low

THE number of people claiming unemployment benefits in Wirral fell again last month.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics, out today, show the number dropped by 100 to 4,360.
