For those who weren’t watching, or, let’s be honest, had better things to do, the council elections in Wirral have brought change to an organisation that, for too long, seemed immune to public opinion.
Last night's Council meeting (Tuesday 15 May) saw Labour Councillor Pat Hackett elected Leader of the Council, defeating Conservative Leader by 31 votes to 25. Ten Liberal Democrat and Green Councillors abstained.
A secret report agreed between the Labour Cabinet and Senior Council Directors in November 2018 has been leaked and it reveals that they will 'accept' 6,000 houses being built on Green Belt in Pensby, Saughall Massie and Clatterbridge as well as a variety of other sites around the Borough.
