Council urged to drop 'unfair' trade waste fines

Wirral Council has been urged to 'get off the backs' of traders and small businesses in the Borough, after a stream of complaints about unfair charges and fines being imposed by their chosen contractor, Kingdom.  An online petition against the fines has also been launched by Councillor Paul Hayes

Housing Ministry slams Town Hall failure on Local Plan

Wirral Council’s work to develop a legally-required Local Plan has been slammed as making ‘little tangible progress’.  The Town Hall has been ordered to publish an Action Plan to comply with the 2004 Act of Parliament and to report monthly to the Ministry on progress.

Wirral's garden waste charges could be binned

Wirral’s charges for its failing garden waste collection scheme could be banned under new Government plans announced this week.

At the same time, councils could also be forced to offer a weekly bin collection to prevent food waste being uncollected for up to 14 days.
