As the Wirral Globe warns of plunging temperatures on the way, Conservatives in Wirral are urging people who may be at risk, or in need of extra help, to be aware of what's available.

New environment protections announced for Liverpool Bay

Conservatives have, this week, announced that special environmental protections will be extended around Liverpool Bay as part of a national plan that will see nearly 150,000 rare seabirds better protected as the UK’s ‘Blue Belt’ of marine protected areas extends by over 650 square miles.

Calls to publish report in risks of council NHS plans

On Monday, Wirral’s Cabinet decided that a report by consultants PricewaterhouseCoopers (‘PwC’) into the risks of changing the way healthcare in Wirral is managed should be kept secret.
 
The report, costing £79,587, reports on the risks to the NHS and local authority.
 

Council 'gives away' Green Belt

The site of the controversial fire station in Saughall Massie’s Green Belt will be ‘given away’ by Wirral Council in a deal that will see no benefit for the ‘cash strapped’ authority, other than one peppercorn rent a year for 150 years.

The Chief Executive of Wirral Council has been called to appear before a committee of councillors to explain high rates of staff absence, after a report revealed the authority is losing £4.4 million a year caused by absence and sickness.
