Report from Val Allen MBE, Chair of Cheshire & Wirral Conservative Womens' Organisation

It’s been almost a month since I was appointed Chair of the CWO Cheshire & Wirral Area, during this time I’ve been busy appointing my executive team to help me with the mission of supporting women in the party.

I’m sure you will be familiar with the work of the CWO, but here’s a reminder of who we are and what we do:-

“Supporting Women in to political life since 1919”.

As the oldest politically affiliated female organisation in the world we are the pipeline for women in the party to…

  1. We support women into elected office through training, mentoring, and networking. From Councillors, Police Crime Commissionaires, to MPs and all elected roles in the Party.
  2. Represent women in the Party, thank them for the hard work they do and help women navigate our Party structures
  3. Reach out to women voters beyond politics, and engage with their concerns through policy forums, campaigns and lobbying and work with NGO’s

The CWO provides training, mentoring and speaking opportunities. We encourage and support women who wish to become involved at all levels of public life or in their local communities: From school governors to public appointments, Councillors to MPs. The CWO is there to help support all Conservative candidates through CWO Development, both men and women can join our courses.

The CWO is an affiliated organisation of the Conservative Party. If you a member of the Conservative Party, then you can be member of the Conservative Women’s Organisation irrespective of your gender, as long as you agree to our aims.

Please join us today by registering on the CWO website, it’s free to join and you will then have access to training, mentoring, events and a host of other opportunities to engage with the party. Please make sure you tick the box to receive the CWO North West newsletter.

Here at the CWO Cheshire & Wirral team we are developing opportunities to connect with other members in the Area, with online events, training and how you can help shape policy.  We have already had two Zoom events, the first, a conversation with Katherine Fletcher MP on her journey into politics; and the second, a conversation with a leading business women on the importance of getting more women on Boards.

We hope to have a third in September, a conversation with a top lady Barrister about her journey and the important part women play in the judiciary,

I hope you can join us at a future event, please email for more details.

Stay safe.
