Q&A with Max
Is there anything special you think you will bring to our community?
Being a younger candidate I would like to inspire other young people to become more involved in local issues. A high proportion of the residents of Moreton West and Saughall Massie are under 25.
Why Moreton West and Saughall Massie?
I have always been interested in local politics and Chris Blakeley encouraged me and other younger members to get involved, so it was natural for me to want to continue his work.
What's your background?
My mum is a teaching assistant in Moreton and my dad runs a local signage business. We have our roots in Moreton and Wallasey. I live in the constituency and I'm studying at Liverpool John Moores University.
Why do you want to be a councillor?
I believe everyone has a positive contribution to the wellbeing of our community. It's a question of encouraging people to take full advantage of education and training opportunities and to act responsibly for themselves, their families and community. Society, and the Council in particular, must also assist those who are less able to care for themselves or who are in temporary difficult circumstances.
Biggest challenge?
First and foremost - the defeat of Covid 19 and the resumption of all council and NHS services. We all need to play our part in reducing the infection rate, protecting the NHS and saving lives. We must also get our kids back to school when it is safe to do so and protect jobs and local businesses.
Secondly, Brexit has finally been done. We need to put past differences behind us, resume full national sovereignty and take advantage of all the political and economic opportunities now available to us.
Are you looking forward to campaigning to be a councillor for Moreton West and Saughall Massie?
I can't wait! I am really excited to get to know as many residents and community groups as possible - Covid 19 permitting!
