Local Conservative Candidate for Moreton West & Saughall Massie
Working with Councillors Steve Williams and Bruce Berry

Max is leading the 2021 Conservative Action Team in Moreton West and Saughall Massie. Max has been helping support local Conservative councillors for several years, both in our community and in the Town Hall. He was chosen as the local Conservatives candidate for Moreton West and Saughall Massie in the May 2021 local elections, to stand in the seat held by Cllr. Chris Blakeley.

Max first became involved in local issues during the EU Referendum and has worked with Chris and, more recently, councillors Steve Williams, Bruce Berry and the team.

Our plan for Moreton and Saughall Massie

  • More police
  • Tackling litter and fly tipping
  • Defend our green spaces
  • Invest in our shopping areas
  • Better support for young people
  • Fixing roads and pavements

Q&A with Max

Is there anything special you think you will bring to our community?
Being a younger candidate I would like to inspire other young people to become more involved in local issues. A high proportion of the residents of Moreton West and Saughall Massie are under 25.

Why Moreton West and Saughall Massie?
I have always been interested in local politics and Chris Blakeley encouraged me and other younger members to get involved, so it was natural for me to want to continue his work.

What's your background?
My mum is a teaching assistant in Moreton and my dad runs a local signage business. We have our roots in Moreton and Wallasey. I live in the constituency and I'm studying at Liverpool John Moores University.

Why do you want to be a councillor?
I believe everyone has a positive contribution to the wellbeing of our community. It's a question of encouraging people to take full advantage of education and training opportunities and to act responsibly for themselves, their families and community. Society, and the Council in particular, must also assist those who are less able to care for themselves or who are in temporary difficult circumstances.

Biggest challenge?
First and foremost - the defeat of Covid 19 and the resumption of all council and NHS services. We all need to play our part in reducing the infection rate, protecting the NHS and saving lives. We must also get our kids back to school when it is safe to do so and protect jobs and local businesses.

Secondly, Brexit has finally been done. We need to put past differences behind us, resume full national sovereignty and take advantage of all the political and economic opportunities now available to us.

Are you looking forward to campaigning to be a councillor for Moreton West and Saughall Massie?
I can't wait! I am really excited to get to know as many residents and community groups as possible - Covid 19 permitting!

Like most of the citizens of Moreton and Saughall Massie we listened with sadness and respect to the news that HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh recently passed away.

Opinion: Wallasey's Young Conservative Co-ordinator is talking Brexit...

Friday, 31 July, 2020

Brexit......something that surprisingly hasn't been making headlines over the past six months due to the ever-present Coronavirus, but since it brought me into the world of politics I thought I'd give it a mention.
